Lyrics
Defend The Truth
Lyrics by Paul Dempsey/California
(v1)
In our wildest youth
We never whispered the truth
We screamed it out loud
We wanted to draw a crowd
(v2)
And now we’ve gotten old
And we’re not so bold
Now our heads are bowed
Our voices soft not loud
(chorus)
But it’s okay old friend
This is not the end
We’ve passed the torch
They will stay the course
They will defend the truth
And shout it from the roofs
Just like we use to do
(v3)
We were warriors, so strong
Endlessly fighting for so long
Now this is our time to spend
Lay back and rest old friend
Instrumental
(bridge)
The fight will go on, yes it will go on
Long after we’re both gone
(chorus)
But it’s okay old friend
This is not the end
We’ve passed the torch
They will stay the course
They will defend the truth
And shout it from the roofs
Just like we use to do
